Traffic Soiling

Some customers are not sure why they have such bad soiling at the point of entry of their home. Most of the time the dark traffic pattern is at the front door or the garage entry. Typically what it comes down to is the first few feet of carpet at an entry gets used as a floor mat. When you have any moisture or oil from asphalt on your shoes when you come in, it takes a few steps on the carpet to “wipe” them off. It is made worse when there is residue from past carpet cleaning if detergent cleaners were used.

There are a few ways to avoid this. You could have some cheap carpeted mats at the entry points to help collect the majority of dirt coming off of shoes. You could remove your shoes before walking on the carpet. Or you might come up with a different solution that works for you. Some people we have talked to do not want to change there habits or are simply not concerned about the situation. We understand the sentiment, life can be busy enough taking care of more important things than to be worrying about how clean the carpet is! Either way, we’re here to help when you need us.
